This site cannot help in an emergency.

stormpast.com does not issue warnings, forecasts, or advisories of any kind, and nobody here monitors email for urgent messages.

  • In immediate danger: contact your local emergency services (911 in the United States).
  • Active storms, watches and warnings: nhc.noaa.gov
  • Local forecasts and alerts: weather.gov
  • Evacuation orders: your county, parish, or municipal emergency management office.

Every page here is a historical record only, computed from NOAA data that ends with the 2025 season.

Email

Write to contact@stormpast.com. One person reads it, so short and specific messages get better answers.

These get a reply:

  • Data corrections. See the next section for what to include.
  • Licensing and reuse. Questions about republishing the tables, counts, maps, or text.
  • Press and research. Questions about how a specific figure on a specific page was calculated.

Expect a reply within about five working days. The site is run from India, so a message sent during US business hours is usually read the following day. Link exchanges, guest posts, paid placements, and SEO offers are deleted unread. Requests for forecasts, risk estimates, or safety advice cannot be answered at all.

Reporting a data error

Corrections are read and acted on. Include all four of these:

  1. The full URL of the page.
  2. The storm name and year, for example Hazel, 1954.
  3. What is wrong. Quote the exact figure or sentence on the page and say what it should say instead.
  4. Your source: an NOAA or National Hurricane Center report, a newspaper archive, a local records office, a published study.

Reports without a source still get looked at, but they take much longer to check. If the error is in how this site measured or presented the storm, the page is fixed and the change is noted. If the disagreement is with NOAA's HURDAT2 database itself, this site cannot change that record. HURDAT2 is revised by the National Hurricane Center, usually in late February, and corrections belong with them.
